News from the CD-market

Camerata Trajectina's newest CD is to be officially presented on August the 23rd in Cats's native town Brouwershaven. Jacob Cats – Mourning Maidens and other songs revolves around the most popular author of the Dutch Golden Age. On this CD our team is reinforced with some extra mourning maidens: sopranos Susan Jonkers and Caroline Stam and mezzo-soprano Elsbeth Gerritsen.
The new CD can be ordered now through our website.

2007: Jacob van Eyck

On the occasion of the 350th year of Jacob van Eyck's death in 2007, a lot of activities took place. Teleac broadcasted a documentary about this very special composer, recorder and bell player from Utrecht. Camerata Trajectina contributed to this production. In November Camerata was on tour through The Netherlands with a programm about Jacob van Eyck and Jacob Cats.
For many years the CD with Dutch Songs from Golden Age with their recorder variations by Jacob van Eyck was sold out. Philips has relaunched Camerata Trajectina's recording from 1994, starring Saskia Coolen. The songs are sung by Suze van Grootel and Marius van Altena.
Furthermore Camerata-member Saskia Coolen has recorded a CD with music by Jacob van Eyck, together with the cities bell player Arie Abbenes. This CD can be ordered by sending an email to recorders@camerata-trajectina.nl.
Camerata Trajectina has also initiated the idea of having a statue of Jacob van Eyck placed nearby the tower of the Utrecht Dome Church. It is meant to be able to produce recorder and bell sounds as wished. Multi-talent Hieke Mepplink, soprano and sculptur, has been asked to make a design.
